June Glossybox

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't done a post in over a week, been putting in the overtime at work so it's been a bit crazy!

This morning I rushed to the front door to be greeted by not only a good looking postman but even better, my June Glossy Box. Now for those of you that don't know 'GlossyBox' is a £10 a month subscription service and you recieve 5 product samples to your door once a month.

After last months awesome box, I was expecting big things. I was disappointed as I own 3/5 products from this box so, it had no shininess for me! Still, it is a really good box, with some fab products.

Here's my thoughts on each:

Batiste                This is my best friend and I can never have too much of it.
OPI polish           This is more of a winter colour I think, wrong timing - but  love OPI
Lalique Perfume  Not my kind-of scent, will accompany my Nan's Birthday present!
Mama Mio           This hopefully will be good, love the brand already
Bio Effect Serum   I am looking forward to this, tried this on the back of my hand, LOVE!

Overall the box is a good box, just a bummer for me owning most of the products, but hey as I said you can never have too much Batiste or body scrubs! Not such a summery box, hopefully next month we will see some more summer inspired bits.

Have you got your box yet? What do you think?

TAG: 40 Beauty Questions...

Hi Guys,
I asked Vivianna from ViviannaDoesMakeup.com if I could use this tag so I hope you enjoy :)

SKINCARE

-How many times do you wash your face daily?
Twice, although in the morning I use a face wipe, saves so much time!

-What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Combination, my actual skin is very dry, but I break out so easily.

-What is your current facial wash?
It is L'osmoclean by Institut Esthederm, Paris

-Do you exfoliate?
I exfoliate twice a week- some times 3 times depending how my skin is.

-What brand do you use?
I use Soap and Glory - Scrub your nose in it

-What moisturizer do you use?
At the moment I am using Day and Night creams
Day: Nivea Pure and Natural day cream
Night: Dr Organic Organic Rose Otto night cream

-Do you have freckles?
Nope, not one in sight

-Do you use eye cream?
I don't, but I know I should

-Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Yeah, I've always, not had bad skin, but very prone to break out, espcially around my star week. Blackheads are my main problem, as for actual spots, a couple in every while.

-Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No

MAKE-UP

-What foundation do you use?
I am a foundation junkie, but at the moment I am using a mix between Revlon Colorstay and Jemma Kidd  Light as air foundation. Both doing a job well done!

-How about concealer?
I am currently using Origins Quick Hide concealer, which is a heavy duty concealer but doesn't crease under the eye.

-Do you know your undertone color?
I have quite olive skin and tan very well, so I have a yellow undertone, but I can have a slight pink-y look sometimes.

-What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I couldn't live without them okay slight over exaggeration, but I genuinely feel bare when I don't wear them on a night out. I used to always to swear by the Kimberley, Girls Aloud ones but I am now a true Ardell fan - so is Rhianna apparently....

-Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes, but mine dont really last much longer than that anyway...

-What brand of mascara do you use?
I am using the Clinique, High Lengths mascara - it has the most bizzare wand

-Sephora or MAC?
Hmmm it's uncomparable, as one is a single brand and the other sells lots of different brands. But I love both :)

-Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
I wish, although I think I am able to apply for one? Think I may do this later!

-What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
MAC, ELF, Topshop, Body Shop, all different, but I am saving up for the Full Sigma Brush Set!

-Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
I use the Smashbox one, I am yet to find something better

-For the face?
The ELF one at the moment and much prefer to the L'oreal one, which tbh is AWFUL!

-What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Satin Toupee by Mac, not worn a lot but always love it when I do

-Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Pencil and Gel

-How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
I would say I never do, always manage to get my nose or something though

-What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I think they look good but they need a good technique, when i was training for my Beauty Therapy NVQ2, it was quite funny watching people apply it to their clients and getting it EVERYWHERE!

-Do you use mineral makeup?
Tried it and didn't like it, it really dried out my skin- it's not for me

-What is your favorite lipstick?
Dior Addict 333 Nude, but its always changing

-How about lipgloss?
Again this changes regularly, but at the moment Viva Glam Gaga 2.

-What is your favorite blush to use?
MAC, Band of Roses, from the In the Groove Collection, I got this from Karrisx's blog sale and although very pigmented, with a delicate hand -can look AMAZING

-Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
I have done, and never had any problems, but I have heard of people saying they have got fakes.

-Do you like drugstore makeup?
I see no problem with it, if its long lasting and does the job, its therefore better than high-end as it didn't cost a lot.  I am a sucker for a high-end product and it's packaging though!

-Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
No, but I am dying to go to Bisport? or something its one of the very few in the UK

-Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I studied Beauty Therapy at Night college while doing my A-Levels, but would love to take some more make up lessons

-Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
I can be, I look back at pictures of nights out and wince at the amount of blusher, or lack of coverage I am getting with my foundation

-Name a makeup crime that you hate?
People who OVER shade their eyebrows! YUCK!

-Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
Nude is the way forward but, I dared the red lip tint the other week on a night out and I have to say - I loved it!

-Which celebrity always has great make up?
Kim Kardashian by far, always flawless

-If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Eyeliner, my eyelashes are quite long so it doesn't matter too much if they aren't done.  Eyeliner just makes me look awake

-Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
I have done, to pop to the shop or something, but not on a night out! Hell No!

-Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
No! haha! Don't get me wrong but I am not someone who relies on their make-up I just prefer myself with it

-In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
I don't want to say MAC as it's so cliché but I think I am going to have to!

-What do you think of Makeup?
It amazing, it's something women have that most men don't! It's something I really appreciate and love trying new brands, products and innovations, and would love my career path to follow in that direction.

Pinking of a Teenage Dream...

I love OPI nail polishes, the colours, consistencies and  even the names have me wanting more. Where I am a Sally's /Salon Services card holder i get them for about £5.00 each which is mega cheap!

Ever since the collection came out, I have and am still loving Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' polish which is an amazing pink glitter polish which maybe needs 2/3coats to make it opaque, which is amazing from a glitter polish. I do love pairing it with other polishes to make it 'Pop', and my current match has me showing off my toes to every person willing - I hate feet, so this is so out of character for me!

OPI Polishes in Pinking of you and Teenage Dream

'Pinking of you' is a continuted line in the OPI collection and is loved by the beauty community. I personally find it the runnyest formulation of any OPI np I have used to this date, but with 3 coats it achieves a perfect pastel pink colour -perfect for summer

I used 3 layers of the 'Pinking of you' then paired that with 1 coat of 'Teenage Dream' and although 4 layers of polish sounds a lot, it has achieved exactly what I expected from it, and with a lovely top coat should last ages!

I am sorry for this terrible photo! Orange feet is never a good look - trialling a new fake tan - Review coming soon!

As you can see, it looks very summery and of course very PINK! I love it and is possibly a new nail combo.

What do you think? Do you like layering 2 polishes to get a different effect?

Here comes the summer sun...

A little bit of 'Texas' there for you, if your old enough to remember...

Although today is a bit grotty outside, the last week or so has given us some really lovely days, meaning that my usual make-up base has been far too heavy.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation - Oily and C/B skin( 330 - Natural Tan) £12.99 Boots

Revlon Colorstay has been my HG foundation all winter, with my skin being the definition of combination skin, it really needs a lot of coverage without having the product dry it out- and this product is PERFECT for that. However, summer is coming and the Colorstay is getting a little bit too heavy for everyday wear, but is still my go-to night-time going-out foundation.

Jemma Kidd Make up School, Light as Air foundation( 04 Light Medium) £25.00 Space NK

Enter, Jemma Kidd, Make up School, Light as Air, Liquid Foundation. I love this product. After seeing Tanya (Pixi2woo) raving about this foundation, I knew I had to try. I headed down to Space NK and went straight for the Jemma Kidd stand. The swatch on my hand to start  looked like it wasn't going to offer what I wanted; a light dewy base, with enough coverage for my sometimes problem skin.
I bought a shade darker to allow for my summer tan

As soon as I got home I removed my make up and applied this and my-oh-my I was amazed that a product, which is what is says on the package, 'Light as Air', really was, yet gave me really great coverage and helped balance out my skin tone. This is going to be my favourite summer product I think. At £25.00 it  is on the expensive side, however, it does do a really good job and also when its running out, you can alway cut the tube open to make sure you use all of the product, which is not possible with the Colorstay.

Revlon, Colorstay Foundaton
Jemma Kidd , Light as Air Foundation
Origins, Quick Hide Concealer (03 Medium) £12.00 Boots

Of course, there will those days that neither by themselves will do, like this morning, I simply mixed the two together on my hand to create the perfect base for my day and applied like every morning with the elf powder brush. Add a touch of my Origins, Quick Hide concealer and it was exactly what I needed, with the right colour and coverage.
ELF Studio Line, Powder Brush £3.50 elf.co.uk

How does your base change through out the seasons?
Have you bought your summer foundation yet?

New Nudes....

I LOVE a good nude colour, whether it is on my lips, nails, cheeks or on the eye, im my opinion...you can never go wrong with a nude.

So when a fellow blogger asked to send me a nude Nail Polish to try, I couldn't say no.

I introduce Revlon Nail Enamel in 030 Grey Suede, from first impressions, even though a nude, I wouldn't have picked it up in a shop - it looks a bit... bland to me. However, I tried it anyway, all in the name of blogging, and you know what? I loved it!

Nail Polish - Revlon 030 Nude Suede
Ring - Dorothy Perkins

Yes, okay, it took 3 coats to achieve a nice even colour, but which polish doesn't nowdays? I have really small hands it it helps elongate my fingers as well as keeping me looked polished and tidy. Who would have thought of it eh?

On the other hand, the also pictured, Revlon 'Liquid Quick Dry', wasn't such a success for me, I found after fannying about putting it on the nail and ensuring it wasn't dripping everywhere or leaving ridge marks on my nails, it took longer for them to dry than they normally would.  I wasn't impressed, however, if anyone does know how to use it better than I do, I really welcome your help and comments!

What are your favourite Nude polishes at the moment?

Hello, Welcome, Pull up a chair and Take a Seat....

I have been watching and reading many blogs, starting off with Lollypop26  of course, and became a big fan of Gemma from Gemsmaquillage, Michele216, Swalkermakeup as well as blogs from BBB - Jane is such a lovely lady, Viviannadoesmakeup, Kelanjo and more... There are just too many favourites!

After many a evening spent reading and watching these I have decided to go in for the kill and write my own blog. This will be the hub of where I write what I am loving, and what I am not, as well as you all watch me jump of the band wagon of many trends. Eeeeeek!

So... Hi I'm Laura, I'm 21, studying Retail Marketing at Brighton University starting my 3rd year in September, and I hope to venture into cosmetics and PR when I finish. :)  I am stupidly obsessed with Cosmetics, Beauty products and all that shabang, along with fashion and shopping- So this should be a whole lot of fun!

I have a lot planned and cannot wait to get started :)
